The Houndstooth is Making a Comeback…

10 Oct

The Houndstooth has been around fo-eva! Its duotone textile pattern is a major staple in your wardrobe. Originating from Scotland, it made its debut in the US in the 1800′s. This pattern has made its way back this year and especially this fall as a trendsetter… again. Check out the reality superstar Kim Kardashian-Humphries who wore a divine houndstooth dress as she attended the NBC News’ Today show in NYC on October 7, 2011.

She definitely rocked it!

Here are a couple other celebs rocking the “Houndstooth” look. ….

Brian Atwood…

10 Oct

I am a growing fan of Brian Atwood, he has been in the fashion game for quite some time and it’s really nice to see that he has branched out on his own.  Here is some of his Bio taken off of his website …

“Since launching his own label in 2001, Brian Atwood has
beguiled the fashion industry with his indelible shoe designs. A champion of
both modernity and drop-dead glamour, Atwood brings his impeccable creations
alive with an added jolt of raw sex appeal. This unique sensibility is informed
by the designer’s authentic American roots as well as by a European
sophistication he has nurtured for the last two decades”

…. I’m stuck at the raw sex appeal…. :-)

Alexander McQueen 2012 Spring Collection

5 Oct

“I was thinking about a woman as an object of desire. We go to such lengths to adorn ourselves that we almost become our clothes or are taken over by them. This is a collection about excess – an exploration of ideals of beauty at their most extreme.” Sarah Burton

With faux feathers and cascades of ruffles, Alexander McQueen brought fantasy and femininity to the runway on Tuesday, while still hewing to the fashion label’s edgy, dark side for spring.

Creative Director Sarah Burton presented a show-stopper in the best tradition of the theatrical brand, mixing up flirty skirts that flounced at the knee with harder-edge military details like epaulets, high collars and armor-like bodices.

Burton — once the label’s head of women’s’ design before the 40-year-old McQueen committed suicide last year at his London home — has been riding a wave of notoriety since her design of Kate Middleton’s wedding dress this spring.

The Gothic-inspired ivory satin and lace affair with a 2.7 meter-long train garnered raves and focused an international spotlight on Burton and the Alexander McQueen line.

Kayne West “DW” Collection….

3 Oct

Only because I love Kayne West and all his swagg. He may wear a womans blouse a time or so but he still knows how to work his style. On top of his music, I’m just hooked.

Kayne’s highly anticipated ready to wear womans line hit the Paris runway for Fashion Week. Kanye ( yes we are on a first name basis), named the line DW after his mother Dr. Donda West. If you don’t remember, she passed away several years ago and he wanted to honor her name by having this collection named after her. HOW SWEET

Here are my favorite pieces from the collection… let me know what you think?
